We have seventeen Core Values which help us acheive a Christian ethos within the school. These values are reflected within the curriculum, so that they become part of everyday school life. An example would be the use of the value of Forgiveness as a subject for one of our daily Assemblies.

They are :

a)      Compassion - Christians believe that their attitudes and actions must reflect the kindness, mercy and compassion of Jesus and the love of God for everyone

b)     Courage - facing danger and opposition, overcoming fear, making a stand for what is right and encouraging others to persevere

c)      Creation and Creativity - all of life is a gift, entrusted to humankind for a purpose and comes with a mutual responsibility to ensure that creation is not spoiled, but sustained and shared by all.  The purpose can be seen in the creative spirit that each person learns to value and explore

d)     Endurance - the power to withstand hardship or stress – life is sometimes hard but it is important not to give up when the going gets tough

e)      Forgiveness - the means by which damaged relationships are restored

f)       Friendship - Christians believe that they can call God their friend because of the relationship made possible through Jesus

g)     Hope - God promises “that love and goodness have, and will ultimately overcome all evil”.  This hope is manifested in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ

h)     Humility - Christians believe that Jesus was both servant and king, and that they can serve God by demonstrating humility through their attitudes and actions. (This runs counter to many role models in popular culture)

i)        Justice - always seen in the context of love; includes taking responsibility for one another, especially the poor and oppressed, and ensuring that no-one is denied the essentials for living

j)        Koinonia - the value of fellowship and community; everyone can contribute and by working together we get things done and do a better job

k)      Peace - the sense of total well-being

l)        Reverence - having a deep respect for God and for his creation

m)   Service - helping whoever is in need – putting ourselves out for somebody else’s benefit

n)     Thankfulness - the response to God’s love and care should be one of thankfulness and praise

o)     Trust - the basis of all stable relationships. It is rooted in truth and will grow through consistent experiences of reliability and integrity

p)     Truthfulness - Christians believe that truth is revealed in the Bible and supremely in the person and life of Jesus Christ

q)     Wisdom - being able to judge what is true and right and understanding the effect of our actions and words on others
